I grew up in the deserts of
Arizona
and
Nevada, and I still feel happiest in places where you can look for miles, and see nothing at all.
After I married my husband, I lived for fifteen years in
the
Silicon Valley, an amazing place, full of every kind of California there ever was. We had the farmlands of Gilroy and Watsonville an arm's distance away, the mountains and ocean within reach of the other arm. The 1960's were in Santa Cruz and the future was in San Jose.
I now live with my husband and youngest son in a small mining town in the high
desert
of
Northern California, in a century-old, book-cluttered Victorian house, where I am very much at home.
